3/12 Summary(“Welcome to the present”)
Technology include idea. We become far off present because of fast development. There are many things we can not see because of high development.(example: nuclear in a cell) However we say “I know that”.
When digital media technologies connect or separate people, they become media. And technologies embody social, political, cultural, economic, philosophical ideas and relationships. Egg white was used in art, when people of past did paint. It was media. Car connect many things. (example : place and other place). Also Car separate many things.(Example : in/out, wealthy/poor) Car is also media.

3/14 Summary(“As We May Think”-Vannevar Bush)
Bush has been MIT professor or inventor of “differential analyzer” or science advisor to President F.D Roosevelt or leader of Manhattan project or founder of NSF. This readings is published Atlantic Monthly in July 1945.
Following is his thought. There are many research. These have been not made by independence. Also These have been involved each other. However method to accept each other is still the first step. And thoughts are so developed. However technology’s growing to realize these is increasing slowly. Economic element can’t reach to thoughts, too. For example, when Babbage design “difference engine”, he could not construct it because of shortage of some money in 1848. so Babbage’s original plan of “difference engine” was constructed in 1991. If Pharaoh were design a car, Egypt will be laborious. And Pharaoh will fail. And Bush thought creative thinking is new thinking based old thinking.
Bush thought that scientist, men, girls, secretaries, calculators will use to Memex. Memex provide user ease to search data by demanding categories. It is similar to information retrieval and index to a book of nowadays. It is same to www’s hyperlink of today. Bush has thought it 60years ago.

My opinion.
All class were so good for me. In fact, I was so confuse at first time because this class is English class and I didn’t know this style class. However I like it now, because of philosophical access of readings.
Specially I could know meaning of media in first class. And I could search media at around me.
And I learned Memex. And I could know advanced thought in the past. It makes part of present. And demands and motivation make invention.
I think I must study very hard. However important thing is interesting for me these subject. I expect next.
